The Olympic Games are over, or at least the first fortnight. And something has surprised the entire national and even international press.

The French are happy, yes, the French are happy. They are not complaining!

It's not me saying it, but newspapers like Le Monde, La Dépêche and Le Figaro. Welcome to a new episode of Learn French vocabulary with the news, which aims to enrich your vocabulary using to the news. Let's get started!



In the last episode, I told you about the Seine controversy. Apparently, it went rather well, even if there were some controversial comebacks from certain athletes. In short, as you will have gathered, this Seine story is going to be the subject of a lot more ink, just like the pedantic artistic choices made for the opening and closing ceremonies.


However, if there's one thing that has hit the nail on the head, it's the way the sporting events were staged.

The choice of venues and infrastructure was beyond criticism.

Add to that professional entertainers to support the French and you have a recipe for popular fervour. What did you think of these Games? Did you see them on TV? Did you watch any of the events?
